How many times have we seen a great movie only
to see a less then average sequel? The Empire Strikes Back
is one of those rare movies that is an excellent sequel
& actually outshines the original.
When I was little, I thought The Empire Strikes
Back was the worst of the 3 movies, just really for the
reason that there wasn't as much action (like a big space
battle) as you see in A New Hope & Return Of The Jedi.
But after getting a bit older, your views start to change
and clearly Empire has the best humor, best storyline &
more character development of the original. 3 movies.
When I try to think of anything I didn't like
about the movie, well I scratch my head and give up. The
only thing I would like to have seen in the movie were the
deleted scenes including the Wampa ice creature.
The Empire Strikes Back also has one of the
biggest surprises of all time, with the "No, I am your
father". Also how many times have you seen the bad
guys win? I think with a lot of movies you can predict what
will happen and that the good guys win. With Empire it at
least makes it unpredictable.
In conclusion, to me this is easily the best
of the 4 star wars movies and will be hard pressed to be
beaten by the next 2 prequels. A true classic, 5/5 starts.
The Good
- The Bad guys win, makes it less predicable.
- Has a lot of funny moments during the movie, funniest
of all the Star Wars movies. Even when things aren't looking
good they still throw in some jokes.
- The Battle Of Hoth & The Asteroid Chase.
- Darth Vader v's Luke Skywalker lightsaber duel.
- The music was the best score I have heard for a movie,
Also we are first introduced to the imperial march.
- Yoda, his opening sequence was hilarious and I think
his speech about the force was the best scenes in Empire
if not the whole trilogy and then lifting the X-Wing out
of the swamp.
The Bad
- Would have been nice to have seen the Wampa scenes.
